Pittsburgh, Penn.- Sunday, October 26, 2008 Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit organization behind Sesame Street, and the USO (United Service Organizations) teamed up to provide The Sesame Street Experience for Military Families: a free traveling tour to military installations across the country. The initiative provides support and offers significant resources for military families with young children experiencing the effects of deployment, multiple deployments or when a parent returns home changed due to a combat related injury. Military families who attended the 60-minute experience saw a live 25-minute character performance and received outreach materials from Talk, Listen, Connect and other partners. Flight surgeon receives T-6 egress training

Col. Alan Hodgdon, one of 12 Air Force flight surgeons who are also pilots, receives T-6 egress training, July 25, from Staff Sgt. David Webb with the 71st Medical Operations Squadron’s Aerospace Physiology Flight here. Colonel Hodgdon is the Medical Group commander with the 171st Air Refueling Wing, Pennsylvania Air National Guard, Pittsburgh International Airport Air Reserve Station, Pa. He was a T-37 instructor pilot at Laughlin AFB, Texas, from 1978 until 1984. Colonel Hodgdon also flew F-4s while attending medical school. All flight surgeons have required flight time, half of which can be with aircraft outside their home unit. Colonel Hodgdon’s son, 2nd Lt. Benjamin Hodgdon, is a student in Class 090-06 here. Local civic leaders, school district and media representatives got a birds-eye-view of the Pennsylvania Air National Guard mission, in an orientation flight hosted by the 111th Fighter Wing May 23 at the Willow Grove Air Reserve Station, Pa. The KC-135 and crew that refueled the A-10s was from the 171st Air Refueling Wing out of Pittsburgh.
