Third Annual 171st CFC Campaign Season (and chili season) is here!

Every fall, the 171st has the opportunity to make a difference by contributing to the local Combined Federal Campaign, and try some really great chili.

Last year, our members contributed more than $20,000 to the CFC from more than 40 donors. We hope to continue the success with this year's campaign.

To kickoff the CFC campaign, the 171st hosts a chili cook-off open to all unit members. Ten of the best cooks on base took part in the cook-off this year.

Great chilies such as Shot Gun Chili, Chili con Carnage, OH NO!.....this aint no chili, and Chili with Love were created for the day's contest. At the conclusion, Maj. Scott Fisher's 'Tailgate Chili' took the overall first place as voted on by a panel of seven judges.

"There were some great chilies and interesting combinations of ingredients," Chef Regis Holden, Corporate Chef for Eat' n Park Hospitality Group said. "I thought I tasted coffee as an ingredient of one of the chilies."

The chili cook-off was a great way to begin another year with the CFC. As a reminder, no contribution is too small and no act too trivial to make an impact in someone's life.

Thank you to our celebrity chili judges from Eat' n Park and especially to all the members who made some phenomenal chili.
