Pittsburgh, Pa -- Guardsmen of the 171st Air Refueling Wing visited the Southwestern Veterans Center in Pittsburgh, Pa. Dec. 19, 2017 to visit with retired service members and wish them happy holidays.

Joining the Guardsmen were the 171st Commander Colonel Mark A. Goodwill and The Adjutant General of Pennsylvania Major General Anthony J. Carrelli. The trip has become an annual occurrence and gives past and present service members a chance to share stories, experiences, fellowship and patriotism.

It’s wonderful, said Senior Master Sgt. Andrea Henry, Superintendent of the 171st Military Personnel Section, both the members and veterans benefit from the time spent together.

“It’s very important to me, thanking the older generation of Veterans for their service,” said Henry.

Members especially enjoyed hearing the experiences of the retired veterans.

It was really humbling to listen to their stories, said Jillian Deitrick, a Personnelist with the 171st Personnel Section, I would definitely like to do it again next year.

This is an event that the members look forward to every year, said Henry.
