Senior Airman Lisa Weiss, 171st Services Apprentice, was selected as one of 14 finalists to sing at the Southeastern Connecticut Submarine Force Birthday Ball sing-off which was held on Saturday, March 24 in Groton, Connecticut.

Weiss competed against 14 other selected individuals in the competition in front of the Fitch High School auditorium audience of more than 100 people.  Weiss sang the song 'Alone' by Heart during the competition.

Although Weiss did not win the competition, she enjoyed the opportunity to sing and to visit the state of Connecticut.  Weiss embraces the opportunity to travel and experience different venues through her singing talent.

Weiss was selected and assigned to the Air Force's Tops in Blue entertainment ensemble in 2010 for one year and traveled performing at various Air Bases throughout the world.  "I love singing the national anthem, and actually got the opportunity to perform with the Air Force when they toured around the world," said Weiss.

A video of Weiss' latest performance can be viewed at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MAcuprNdTH0&feature=youtu.be.

Christine Fisher, a junior who attends the University of Connecticut won the competition. Fisher will sing the national anthem at the 112th Submarine Force Birthday Ball on April 14.
