Changing deployed communications

A discussion involving changing ways that deployed military members stay in touch with friends and family at home takes place at the 171st Air Refueling Wing, Pittsburgh, PA. Three generations of one family engage in conversation about communicating while away; Chief Master Sgt. (Retired) Raymond Dougherty, his grandson, Airman First Class Derek Papakie, and Dougherty's daughter, Lt. Col. Michele Papakie. All three are present or past members of the 171st Air Refueling Wing. Lt. Col. Papakie communicates with Maj. Karen Knoerdel, 171st maintenance officer, who is deployed to Iraq via skype. (U.S. Air Force photo by Master Sgt. Ann Young/Released Capt. Dicie Hritz)
