The 171st Air Refueling Wing loses one of its members when he is commissioned Feb. 9. Senior Airman Garrett Herdman, a Personnel Specialist assigned to the 171st Force Support Squadron is awarded a scholarship through the Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship Program. He is commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Medical Service Corps and placed on inactive, obligated Reserve status while completing his studies.

The 171st Air Refueling Wing loses one of its members when he is commissioned Feb. 9. Senior Airman Garrett Herdman, a Personnel Specialist assigned to the 171st Force Support Squadron is awarded a scholarship through the Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship Program.
Herdman received his undergraduate degree from Washington and Jefferson College, Washington, PA and just began his studies at Seton Hill University in Greensburg, PA. Once he completes his degree as a Physician's Assistant, he will continue his military service as an active duty medical officer.
He is commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Medical Service Corps and placed on inactive, obligated Reserve status while completing his studies.
